The Hope Experience

Since Convoy of Hope was founded in 1994, they have served more than 51 MILLION people throughout the world through international children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, disaster response and partner resourcing. Currently, their feeding program serves more than 100,000 children in El Salvador, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Kenya, Nicaragua and the Philippines. Through their feeding initiatives they provide good nutrition, clean and safe drinking water, instruction on agricultural techniques, healthy living environments, and education.

Convoy brought a team to Kenya in the beginning of May for their annual Hope Experience trip. This is designed to allow business leaders and pastors to walk through the Mathare Valley slum and visit some of their programs, which are making a difference in the lives of thousands of orphans in Kenya.

ACTS has been serving Convoy of Hope for the past three years by providing logistical support for the Hope Experience.

Participants are given an opportunity to pledge support for the ongoing mission, which includes such projects as feeding programs, educational programs, water intervention, economic development, orphanages and group homes. Through their sustainability initiatives, it is their aim to move people from dependency to self-sufficiency.

One of the highlights for the group this year was the opportunity to provide new socks and shoes for many of the students enrolled in the Mathare Child Development Center.
