Encounter Mara has done it again!

Encounter Mara Safari Camp

We are proud to announce that our Sister Company, Encounter Mara Safari Camp, has won the World Traveller’s Award for being Kenya’s Leading Tented Camp three years in a row. Encounter Mara is a classic tented eco-camp set on the banks of the Olmorjoi River in the exclusive Mara Naboisho Conservancy, part of Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara, and home to the famous wildebeest and zebra migration.

In line with the Conservancy’s goals, Encounter Mara is a small, low-impact, exclusive camp that provides personalised service at a high standard. The camp is different in that it offers a safari experience that is never rushed or superficial. The rhythm of each day should allow our guests to truly encounter the culture and wildlife of the Maasai Mara in a unique and genuine way.

Being part of the Naboisho Conservancy Leadership was one of the main motivators for establishing Encounter Mara. The Conservancy is led by the local community, in a very successful effort to conserve the natural environment as well as the Maasai’s way of living. Encounter Mara plays an important part in this effort through employing local Maasai as natural guides. These Maasai grow up and live on the land and therefore it is a natural fit, making them the most suited to become certified guides for the camp. In return, the conservancy is able to provide steady income and protect the land from poachers or other environmental threats.

We are very proud to be part of such an excellent example of community-based conservation and a world class establishment!

So we say well done Encounter Mara!
