MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT: KIDZ AFRICA

Founded in 1995 by Sharon Holgate, Kids Africa is primarily focused on working with at-risk youth and children from rural villages, townships, and disadvantaged communities.

The organization’s aim is to nurture Africa’s future leaders by coaching and mentoring young people on character, discipline, and respect to ensure they become productive adults.

Kidz Africa uses sport, adventure, and performing arts as tools for life skills mentoring to inspire hope and a promising future for the youth.

The “Coach the Coach” program involves selecting youths who exhibit leadership potential, as well as local teachers and young adults from nearby villages and communities.

After receiving mentoring and coaching, these individuals are responsible for organizing and executing programs and events in their respective communities. This is part of Kidz Africa’s Skills Development Program whose focus is job creation.

Parents are roped into the programs for collaboration and support to help their children to achieve their full potential.

They are offered assistance with parenting skills and addiction recovery programs – these are a significant part of what the organization does.
